JoAna was born in Carcassonne in 1985. She arrived as an au pair
in Saint Barth in May 2009. After a few years of various jobs, she took over Blue Gecko
Studio in Saint John opposite the Nikki Beach and thus developed her many artistic
talents.
Privately, she works on painting on canvas, finally taking the plunge
in 2017. She abandons Blue Gecko and becomes a full-time artist. Her main source of
inspiration, the landscapes of Saint-Barth, the sky, the sea, the local fauna and flora.
But not only that.Surprisingly, she made a double portrait of Gizmo in
the style of Mister Hyde and Doctor Jekyll whose composition shows on one hand the Mogwai side and on
the other hand the Gremlins side. Strangely, one could almost guess the shape of the island with
its ying and yang side of everyday life.
It is clear from observing his work and his technique that he was
influenced by Andy Warhol and Pop Art, but also by Van Gogh and the Impressionist painters. Joana is a
member of: l’association des Artistes de
Saint-Barth and us at Destination Saint Barths, we like artists, so we talk about it.
